Njoro Resource Centre (NRC)
This is FAN's first resource centre. It was established in 2001
to serve the communities living adjacent to the Mau Forest together
with scholars and students from the nearby schools and institutions.
As earlier stated this is the only resource centre that FAN directly
manages. This resource centre apart from being an information hub in
the region it also runs two tree nurseries in Njoro and Nakuru
towns. These nurseries have a wide range of tree, herbs and flower
seedlings especially the much sought after Eucalyptus grandis
and the Giant Bamboo.

Mt. ElgonCommunity Resource Centre (MECRC)
This resource centre was set up in 2003 in Kapsokwony town. The
MECRC is a community based organization (CBO) that was established
in November 2000 and has its offices in Kapsokwony though it has
several branches in various villages within Mt. Elgon district. This
resource centre was established to serve the communities living
adjacent to the Mt. Elgon Forest .

PCEA Ruguru Kabiruini Community Resource Centre
This resource centre was set up in July 2003 in Karatina. The
centre is hosted by the Presbyterian Church of East Africa (PCEA),
Ruguru Parish, and serves as a vocational center to empower the
local church members and communities as well as a centre for
information sharing and dissemination on issues relating to NRM, HIV
Aids, Agricultural, livestock and produce marketing extension
services. This resource centre was established to serve the
communities living adjacent to the Mt. Kenya Forest .

Marsabit Community Resource Centre
This resource centre was established in 2005. It was set up to
serve the communities living around the Marsabit forest. Although,
this resource centre poses serious logistical challenges to FAN, it
has over time been strengthened with the provision of a Personal
Computer (PC), WorldSpace Receiver and numerous publications.

Taveta Community Resource Centre (TCRC)
This resource centre was established in 2003. It is
situated in Mgange town which is approximately 20 kilometres from
Wundanyi town. The centre is housed in the town's community centre.
This central location has helped the centre to carve a special niche
for itself as the hub of information in the Taita Taveta region. The
centre was set up to serve the communities living in the Taita
Taveta region.

Webuye Resource Centre
This resource centre was established in January 2006. This is
among the new resource centres that FAN was mandated to establish
during its Strategic Planning exercise. This centre is situated in
Webuye town on the Webuye-Kitale main road. The centre was
established to serve the communities living in the Webuye region and
also the greater Western Province .

This resource centre was established in January 2006. This is one
of the new resource centres that FAN has set up. This resource
centre is situated in Suneka town which is approximately 5
Kilometres from Kisii town. This centre was set up to serve the
communities living in Kisii Central but will also serve the greater
Kisii such as Nyamira and Gucha.

This resource centre was established in January 2006. This is one

centre is situated in Kakiptui town which is 3 Kilometres from
Kericho town. This centre was set up to serve the communities living

region such as Bureti and Bomet.

This resource centre was established in January 2006. This is

Kilometres fro Kisumu City . This centre was set up to serve the

the KEFRI, Lodwar compound in the heart of the town. This centre was

Kwale Resource Centre
This centre was established in May 2006. This centre is located
in Kwale town at the gates of the Shimba Hills National Reserve
which is off the main Likoni – Diani road. Kwale town is

Garissa Resource Centre
This centre was established in June 2006. This centre is located
on the outskirts of Garissa town off the main Garissa – Ijara road.

Narok Resource Centre
FAN partnered with The Narok Environmental Group to set up the
Narok Resource Centre. The Narok Environmental Group is in the
process of restructuring its goals and objectives so as to serve the
local communities better. It will change its name to Narok
Environmental and Sustainable Development Network and it is in the
process of changing its status from a CBO to an NGO.

Marigat Resource Centre
FAN partnered with Maoi Community Water Project to establish and
run the Marigat Resource Centre. Maoi Community Water Project is an
umbrella CBO for numerous groups that are located in the Marigat
area. It was established in October, 1996 and is registered with the
department of culture & social services in the ministry of Home
Affairs & Natural Heritage. The organization has over the years
been able to advocate the communities' right to clean water and in a
greater view a clean environment.

Koibatek Resource Centre
FAN partnered with Lembus Watershed Conservation Organization
(LEWASCO) to establish and run this center. LEWASCO was established
in 2003 and is based in Eldama Ravine in Koibatek District. The
group was registered with the department of culture & social
services in the ministry of Home Affairs & Natural Heritage.
LEWASCO is a membership organization and an umbrella body for all
the groups in the region ranging from women group, youth group and
farmers in general.
